Student Grants
We believe in the power of community and the awesome potential student leaders have to do good! That's why SLEF is incredibly excited to offer this chance for students to apply for grants that will fund the creative ideas they have which are intended to improve their school communities in meaningful ways.
Go to tinyurl.com/SLEFstudentgrants to apply!
Applications, including signatures from teachers/advisers and building principals, are due on February 4, 2026.
What are student grants?
We know that students have so many wonderful, innovative ideas about how to make our little corner of the world a better place - and we can't wait to hear them! We also recognize that our student leaders of today will be our community leaders of tomorrow, and we're proud to provide support and opportunities for SLCS students to serve others. Student grants are intended to fund projects that will improve South Lyon schools in some way, whether they will affect one classroom, one building, or the whole district.
Who can apply for a student grant?
Students in grades 3 - 12 are eligible to apply, either individually or as part of a group. While parents and teachers can give feedback, students should be the ones creating and writing the application.

How big of a project will a student grant fund?
Multiple grants of up to $1,000 each will be awarded this year.
How do I apply?
Go to tinyurl.com/SLEFstudentgrants, make a copy of the Google slides, and fill in your answers to the questions. The more details you can offer, the better our selection committee will be able to understand your project and goals! Once you've finished, please have a teacher or advisor review, print and sign your application - they can help submit it to your building principal and then the district administration office. A hard copy of your application should be delivered with the proper signatures to Assistant Superintendent Lisa Kudwa by February 4, 2026.
When will I find out?
All applicants will be notified once grant decisions are made by the beginning of March. The foundation would love to see student grants in action this school year!
What if I have more questions?
Please feel free to email info@slefoundation.org to ask any questions you may have!
