SLEF was instrumental in bringing Social-Emotional Learning dogs to South Lyon, and we continue to support this hugely popular and beneficial program. Our goal is to make sure there's an SEL dog serving in each building - and we're almost there!

Teacher Grants
Grants are awarded to enhance learning and encourage innovative educational activities for South Lyon students. Since 2018, SLEF has given out nearly 70 grants, directly impacting teachers and students across the district.

The Perseverance Award
Student Scholarships
The Perseverance Awards recognize two South Lyon students (one from each high school) who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives or demonstrated dramatic academic improvement throughout their high school careers.

Kindergarten
Welcome Bags
SLEF partners with local businesses and community organizations to make sure that each incoming Kindergartener receives a welcome bag packed with literacy, skill-building school supplies and the cutest grow-with-me T-shirts you ever did see.
Teacher Shopping Day
Every summer, SLEF joins forces with the Salem-South Lyon District Library, Lyon Township Public Library and Active Faith Community Services to provide thousands of free books and school supplies to South Lyon teachers.

Star Awards
Celebrate a favorite teacher, staff member or colleague with a Star Award! For a small donation, SLEF sends a beautiful certificate to your South Lyon star - a way to both recognize a wonderful educator and support our schools at the same time.
